Exclusive: 2020 Leroux Monthelie 'Les Duresses'

Exclusive: 2020 Leroux Monthelie 'Les Duresses'

Value and Burgundy, two words rarely used in the same sentence. As the popularity of these collectible wines continues to soar, prices have followed suit; for good reason, as these hallowed vineyards have long been home to the most majestic expressions of Chardonnay on the planet. This is land that has an unmatched ability to create wines of power and finesse, grown almost exclusively on limestone soils.

Burgundy is home to some of the most revered winemakers in the business, who continue growing and producing some of the most prestigious and sought-after wines on the market. But that doesn't mean you have to break the bank to enjoy a remarkably delicious wine from this prized terroir. If you dig deep, and peel away some of the gloss, there are deals to be had.

That's where today's wine steps in. A wine crafted by Burgundy's best young talent Benjamin Leroux, his wines are now being featured at Paulées around the world. This wine packs a one-two punch of Meursault weight with a fresh, concentrated minerality found in Puligny-Montrachet. A wine of pure class, refinement and an unbeatable value.

Today, I'm proud to offer the only bottles of 2020 Benjamin Leroux, Monthelie 'Les Duresses in South Carolina!

Benjamin Leroux is widely held as one of the most gifted winemakers of his generation, who first earned his reputation as general manager of the famed Domaine du Comte Armand in Pommard. With 30 years of experience under his belt, he is one of the most experienced young winemakers in the region and is undoubtedly on the track to becoming a Burgundian great. He excels in finding perfect balance, making wines with ample texture that never compromise tension or salinity.

His collection of small cuvées from prestigious appellations in Burgundy are coveted by collectors across the globe. Their purity of fruit, smooth texture, and the subtle influence of oak is nothing short of legendary.
100% Chardonnay sourced from one of the highest vineyards in the village. This very steep, rocky plot produces wine with fine tension and texture. The grapes are hand harvested, fermented with native yeast and aged in large oak barrels for 16 months prior to bottling.

Pure elegance. Aromas of granny smith apple, green pear, white flowers and lemon zest combine with a touch of flinty reduction. Exquisitely textured on the palate with crisp citrus fruit, dense, mid-palate minerals and a Meursault-like hazelnut finish. Everything I'm looking for in top white Burgundy.
