Holiday Countdown 2022 (DAY 9) - Tripoz, Cremant De Bourgogne 2018

Holiday Countdown 2022 (DAY 9) - Tripoz, Cremant De Bourgogne 2018

These are the top wines that stood out among the thousands of wines I tasted this year. Some are always in stock, some are rare and hard to find, but all of them are sure to fill you with joy this Holiday Season.
DAY 9:
Today's wine is my go-to bubbly this Holiday Season, and a Monarch Exclusive. It's the type of sparkling wine I always have on hand for toasting and celebrating with friends and family. One of those deceptively simple Crémants; the kind that overdelivers for its price and outperforms its peers. I could go on and on about how it carries the sophistication and class of great Champagne effortlessly, with a brightness and verve which make it irresistible, refreshing and complex all at once.

This is a classic Blanc de Blancs aged on its lees for an extended period of time (à la top tier Champagne), made by two of the most thoughtful and talented winemakers in Burgundy. If their names sound familiar, it's because we've featured them in several past newsletters, but never have we been able to secure enough of their popular Crémant to include it. So I encourage you to take advantage and stock up, this wine doesn't come around often. Trust me, you'll be wanting some cold bottles on hand throughout the holidays.

Today I am proud to offer the ONLY bottles of 2018 Tripoz, Crémant de Bourgogne, Brut Nature in South Carolina!

The wines from the Mâcon have never garnered the accolades and lofty reputations compared to their northern brethren of the Côte d'Or. As Laurent Tripoz puts it: "The Maconnais is not blessed with the great terroirs of northern Burgundy, we have to work harder to get good wines here."

Celine and Laurent Tripoz established in 1986 by purchasing some small parcels of vines around the small village of Loché, where their cellar is located. They sold grapes to their local co-op at first. It wasn't until 1990 that they began bottling their own wine and have quickly become well known winemakers in the Mâconnais. The results are on full display through in their honest, delicious and affordable wines.
100% Chardonnay, biodynamically grown on limestone soils. Hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel then transferred to bottle for secondary fermentation where it spends 27 months on the lees before disgorgement with zero added sugar.

An absolutely delightful nose of green apple, orange peel, slight tropical notes, a touch of spearmint and toasted brioche. The tiny bubbles create a luxuriously creamy texture off-set by crisp citrus fruit and palate cleansing acidity. A wine that will give your favorite Champange a run for its money.
