100% Syrah from 33-year-old vines planted on sandy, red clay soils. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in tank with native yeast using whole bunches. After aging in neutral French barrels for 8 months, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Pours a dark, opaque color, but the wine is not heavy. The nose is full of juicy blackberries, fresh violet flowers, graphite and a touch of black olive tapenade. The palate is bursting with more concentrated black berry fruit and pretty Mediterranean herbs, but there is a wonderful streak of jubilance and energy here, making this wine as flavorful as it is fun to drink.
