Génot-Boulanger owns two parcels in Chambolle-Musigny totaling less than a hectare: Les Nazoires and Les Mombies. Both located in the southern part of the appellation, closer to Vougeot. The approach is traditional, straight-forward Burgundian: grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed, leaving a portion whole cluster, and fermented with native yeast. Aged in barrel for one year before being racked back into tank to settle for an additional six months before bottling.
This is textbook, fully expressive Chambolle, oozing elegance and class. The aromas come pouring out of the glass: delicate layers of red cherries and lingonberries mix with woodsy earth, florals, warm spice and faint incense notes. A satin-textured yet plush palate carries concentrated red fruit and silky minerals framed by polished tannins. The lingering clove-tinged finish seems to last for hours. Burgundy at its best.
