Wines of place, it's what we're all about at Monarch, searching out distinguished bottles that taste from where they're grown. This ability to convey terroir is what separates certain wines from almost every other food or beverage on earth, and a distinct factor we look for in every bottle we taste.

Some wines reveal their terroir subtly, over time, others scream it loudly from the moment you pop the cork. Today's rosé undoubtably fits squarely into the latter category. A singular rosé grown on the Spanish island of Mallorca, comprised of a multi-colored field blend of native grapes, none of which are grown anywhere else on the planet.

Its beguiling flavor combination of blood orange, pomegranate and brush herbs jump from the glass, and put you squarely on a sun drenched beached in the middle of the Mediterranean. Bottled in a stout 1L format, this light and lively rosé is intended to drink with abandon.

And while its fresh off the boat, and one of the first rosés to hit our shelves this season, it's already a contender for our rosé of the year.

An indigenous mix of red and white grapes grown together in a single plot comprised of clay and limestone, just a few kilometers from the coast. Manually harvested, some grapes macerate on their skins for a few days, while others are directly pressed. Everything ferments and ages in a mix of steel tank and neutral barrel before blending and bottling after a year.

Juicy watermelon, red citrus and pomegranate are the hallmarks of this stellar rosé. High-toned, red fruit aromatics and flavors are front and center, with Mediterranean salinity, and herbal notes contrast the fruit perfectly. The wine finishes with thirst quenching acidity and a touch of white pepper. Packed with freshness its fantastic on its own, but with enough texture and acidity to go with a variety of foods. Think tapas and paella on the back porch.
Cati Ribot is the face of the new Mallorca, at least a Mallorca that we've come to know today. Historically an overlooked wine region in Spain, it was once just another place for massive, tannic Spanish reds, most lost in the sea of cheap wine.

Cati began a movement to change that, she's spent most of her life replanting family vineyards to Mallorquin varieties, and incorporating more amphora and neutral oak in her cellar. The result has been a wine revolution for this small mediterranean islands.

She has put Mallorca on the map for many (certainly us!), and on a new path towards a brighter future.
