Newsletter: Jugo Vins 2-Pack

We've been lucky to have a mild winter in Charleston this year, but with a few more weeks to go before Spring, our palates have been thirsty for something sunny. While summer may still be a ways away, you can feel the sunshine in this pair of lively, lip-smacking wines from Mallorca. Their combination of vibrant fruit, salty minerals and Mediterranean herbs had us absolutely giddy when tasting them for the first time. Simply chill and drink with abandon, and if you can resist the temptation, save one for summer to enjoy on the beach.
Jugo Vins is the name of Charlie Prymaka's winery on Mallorca, here he works with a focus on indigenous varieties under the guidance of Mallorcan native Cati Ribot. His goal is to make 'whenever wines', literally wines to drink with any circumstance.

Charlie is quite the wine industry veteran, having been involved for more than a decade. Originally working in retail and restaurants in New York and the UK and taking any chance he could to work harvest. In 2020, he finally decided to pull the trigger and make the jump to producing his own, deciding on Mallorca for its undiscovered wine scene and plethora of native grapes.

It gives us great pleasure to introduce you to one of the brightest young stars in wine today, and one of our most exciting new discoveries.
'Jugosa' 2021

Mostly Syrah with a touch of Muscatel. The Syrah is hand harvested early to preserve acidity and retain its red fruit profile. The grapes are co-fermented and aged in stainless steel to keep the vibrancy and purity of fruit front and center.

The nose is a burst of ruby grapefruit, blood orange and hibiscus flowers. The palate is a juicy, bouncing array of tangy red berries, pomegranate and a kick of spice with refreshing tartness. 'Jugosa' comes in at just 10% alcohol, making this is an endlessly drinkable wine to share at your next party.
'Molt Bo' 2021

70% Mantonegro, a native of Mallorca with a mix of native varieties. Grapes were hand harvested, 90% de-stemmed and co-fermented with native yeasts. Pressed and racked into used 500L oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. Bottles un-fined, unfiltered.

'Molt Bo' means 'very good' in Majorcan, but we think that's an understatement. Concentrated red berries abound on the nose followed by thyme, rosemary and lavender. Raspberries and cherries are on full display one the crisp palate, backed by soft, subtle tannins.
