There are a small handful of legendary domaines in Burgundy whose wines have garnered generational cult followings. Domaines that have built monumental reputations on continuously producing some of the greatest Pinot Noir on the planet. Domaine Robert Chevillon is one such domaine.
As is often the case with these types of wines, our small allocations usually prevent these bottles from ever hitting the shelves, they are immediately snatched up by collectors who know just how extraordinary these wines are. But this year we were fortunate to secure a deep and varied range of Chevillon's top Premier Crus.
The domaine produced some of Burgundy's best wines in 2021, a vintage marked by tiny yields. So while quantities are still limited, I'm thrilled to be able to offer wines of this caliber to you today. If you haven't experienced the grandeur of top-flight Burgundy, this is a golden opportunity. As the subject of this newsletter eluded to, this is an unprecedented offer.

Domaine Chevillon is one of the titans of Burgundy. With holdings exclusively in the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges, almost everything they make comes from a staggering 8 different 1er Cru vineyards. Fifth generation brothers Denis and Bertrand now sit at the helm with their father Robert still active as an advisor. Make no mistake, this historic domaine produces some of Burgundy's best. |

'Les Vaucrains' Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 2021 $209.99
Often considered the missing Grand Cru vineyard of Nuits-Saint-Georges, 'Vaucrains' is a mesmerizing parcel named after the steep, limestone dominant soils that one finds here. Powerful right from the start, a dark nose is dominated by sloe berries and blackberries, with accents of black truffle, cacao nib and espresso roast. Lush and full-bodied on the palate with enough structure to frame the dark flavors that match the nose. The depth of flavor and concentration here is simply stunning. A Grand Cru in all but name, this wine is dripping with class.

'Les Pruliers' Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 2021 $169.99
Once a field of wild plum trees centuries ago, 'Pruliers' as a wine reflects this wildness. Mimicking 'Vaucrains' dark fruited profile, the nose is full of blackberries and plums, contrasted with a distinct herbal, floral tinge. There's violets, cocoa and smoked meats mingling with the brambly berry fruits. Quite full bodied, this is a wine that has a touch more freshness than one might expect from something so serious. With all this savory flavor, serve this with well seasoned meats and hearty mediterranean fare.

'Les Chaignots' Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 2021 $169.99
'Chaignots' is an old-French word that translates to 'where oak trees grow'. The vineyard sits at the northern part of Nuits-Saint-Georges, and has an odd curve, starting at an 8% grade, and slowly growing as steep as 20% towards the top. The vineyard provides a nice mix of limestone and clay as a result. Perhaps the most intensely aromatic, it exudes elegant notes of violets backed by black cherry and a subtle truffle note. Equally intense on the palate, some time in a decanter will yield a vibrantly expressive wine with a full range of aromas and flavors.

Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes 2021 $129.99
An introduction to the village and house style, this wine comes from a parcel high above the other 1er Cru vineyards, at the top of the hill overlooking the village. With more than 50 years of age, these vines are just now ready to be called 'Vieilles Vignes', or old vines. Textbook in every way, showing dark, intense black fruits and earthy spice on the nose. A full and study palate is overflowing with black cherry, blackberry and tobacco notes. Drink this with classic Boeuf Bourguignon or epoisses.

Bourgogne Rouge 2021 $74.99
The Chevillon Bourgogne Rouge is a real treat in this vintage. Made from parcels in and just outside the village, some vines are mere rows away from the 1er Cru vineyards. Fresh and spicy, it is somehow astoundingly rich, elegant and drinkable at the same time. Strawberry, black cherry, currants and earthy mushroom notes can be found on the nose, while the palate carries these across with freshness in spades. Made for drinking tonight with roast meats, charcuterie or a weekend grill-out.
