Shipping Terms and Fine Print

Ownership of all wines passes to the buyer at the time of purchase in the state of South Carolina. If you require that your wine is to be shipped, you authorize Monarch Wine Merchants to engage with FedEx to deliver the wine on your behalf. IF YOU CHOOSE TO SHIP YOUR WINE TO A NON-RECIPROCAL STATE, YOU ASSUME ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR COMPLYING WITH YOUR STATE'S LAWS REGARDING ALCOHOL SHIPMENTS.

By law, you must be 21 years of age to purchase and receive alcoholic beverages such as wine. All shipments containing wine are marked as “Adult Signature Required”, and FedEx will ask for a legal form of identification, such as a drivers license, at the time of delivery. You or another adult of at least 21 years of age will be required to sign for package at time of delivery.

We have no control over the temperatures and conditions at any FedEx warehouse or storage facility. Due to this, all deliveries will be packaged at or as close to the beginning of the week as possible to avoid your wine remaining in any warehouse or storage facility for an extended amount of time. If you are not present for your delivery, or if circumstances prevent a delivery from being completed, Monarch Wine Merchants will not accept responsibility for the condition of your wine as a result of remaining in said facility.

Various states impose limitations on the quantity of alcoholic beverages which may be purchased and brought into their jurisdiction without requiring the purchaser, the seller or the shipper to possess certain licenses or permits. Monarch Wine Merchants does NOT, as a condition of sale, assume any obligation nor bear any responsibility whatsoever for applying for or obtaining any such permits or licenses. Therefore, you are strongly advised to investigate such limitations and to determine the manner in which alcoholic beverages may lawfully be brought into states other than South Carolina. You are responsible for all applicable excise, use and sales taxes due to your state related to the purchase of any taxable goods.

Monarch Wine Merchants makes no representation to the legal rights of anyone to ship or import wines into any state outside of South Carolina. The Buyer is solely responsible for the shipment of wines and is responsible for any loss or damage to goods once they have left our premises. By placing an order, you authorize Monarch Wine Merchants to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you.

Did you know that there are Shipping Seasons for Wine?

To ensure that your wine is transported safely and arrives in perfect condition, we are extremely sensitive to the temperatures in which we ship. Therefore, we generally do not ship wine during the late winter or summer months to avoid damage that can occur from extreme heat or cold.***

We have two main shipping seasons: March - June and September - November. If temperatures permit outside of these months, or at the specific request of a client (hello Holiday Gifts!), we are happy to ship your wines. We do not accept any responsibility whatsoever for the condition of your wines upon arrival during periods of inclement weather. If you purchase wine during the Winter or Summer months, we are happy to store it free of charge in our store until we feel it is safe to ship and/or the client advises us to release the shipment.

***If temperatures are too cold or too hot to ship, but you’d like to ship your wine immediately, we can look for a window to safely ship your bottles via 2nd Day Air or Overnight. We are NOT responsible for cooked or frozen wines as a result of shipping outside of optimal temperatures.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us at the store at 843-576-4845.
